The outdoor patio of my clients apartment was opened to the sun and neighbours so to provide shelter & privacy I installed a motorized awning from Luxaflex and powder-coated aluminium shutters from Trimlite. The dining setting is from Harvey Norman. Wall colour is Murobond Obelisk 120%. Plants with shades of red have been selected to compliment the wall colour. Currently organising wall art to complete this project.

The chair from Living Edge was finished with a custom made cushion using a beautiful fabric from Unique Fabrics. The client specifically needed a cushion with lumbar support so I used a good quality latex pillow as the insert.

Currently working on a project in Terrigal where the lovely owner Pat wanted a more french provincial feel to her modern apartment. As you can see from the before & after shots I have added a softer colour palette in the custom-made furniture and wall colour ( Murowash Alto ) The new charcoal carpet finishes the look. I was very fortunate to be involved with a project where the client, Simon, was using a product called Fibre C as a wall feature. This is an image of where it has been used in the kitchen. The colour is a deep black/blue and I have specified a grey reduced green for the splashback colour. Carn't wait to show you more of this wonderful little home tucked away in Wamberal not far from the beach.

Afew new up-date pics from the Nth Ryde project. The flooring in the kitchen adds warmth to the cool blue-white colour scheme and compliments the neutral found in the artwork by bleux.

The flooring was carried throughout the home with the exception of the bathrooms which are all white. Vanities are custom-made and frameless glass was used to best utilise the small space. The colour used for the kitchen splashback was carried through to the laundry.

This renovation truly was a cindrella story...from a very tired home of many small rooms it is now a beautiful family home. A natural palette was used with afew accent colours and a fabulous paint effect used in the bar area and stripes for a teenager's room. Colours from Murobond, Dulux & Wattyl.

This project has seen a tired little weatherboard home transformed into something very special. The exterior has the appearance of something reminisicent of the Southern Highlands and the interior takes on a more modern minimalist feel. Colours thoughout the home are a cool blue & white with a touch of neutral beige. The kitchen is the design hub with the stunning blueandbrown resin design under the Quantum Quartz bench.

This lovely older styled apartment is situated in a fantastic location overlooking the ocean between The Entrance and Toowoon Bay. The owners, Heather & David, wanted a fresh seaside feel. To acheive this we replaced the flooring with plantation bamboo and used soft neutrals from Resene on the walls. The feature wall that extends down the hall to the front door was painted in Wattyl Dirty Denim. A custom-built unit was added to the dining area and specified in a Resene colour to compliment the walls.

After being a rental for many years the owners have decided to make it their holiday home as well as letting it out to holiday-makers. My aim was to create a 'cool' coastal feeling whilst still maintaining a sense of 'country style' that the home evoked. Colours selected from the Porters & Murobond range.

These apartments are located on a very busy intersection so it was important that the colours
created a 'santuary' feeling for the occupants. A beautiful place to retreat. The dominant colour is a soft blue and to that has been added grey-reduced earthy greens and neutrals.

Lucy & Andrew, are a young couple who moved into their new home at Xmas 07. Stage 1 of the project was for interior colours in the ground floor living areas. Dulux Whisper White & Ecru were chosen as the base colours of the scheme and Porters Prickly Pear & Murobond Bordeaux as the accents. The owner of Kahaus, Sara Haddad, asked for my colour advice for her stand at Designex. We used a dark colour from Porters Paints that receded into the background so the products were the main focus. One of the neutrals from the scheme was used in the master bedroom. The tone compliments the warm timber furniture and flooring. Red was used sparingly in the lamps and artwork which has an uncanny likeness to Loz & Laura. The grey-reduced green roman blinds adds a refreshing coolness to the scheme.

The owners, Loz & Laura, were expecting their first child when they embarked on their big building adventure. Noah's room was painted a blue that is slightly grey-reduced. Its a colour that will enable Noah to feel comfortable with into his teenage years. Adding the red and grey-reduced green gives it a boyish appeal.

The owner/builders, Loz & Laura, have put so much work into building their family home, doing all the work themselves hence the time frame....and their still putting the finishing touches to it. The design evolved from Margaret's love of nature and in keeping with the 'leaves' theme featured in the kitchen splashback and the TV Room artwork. At last, another finished job !!!! The interior was done some time back and the owner, Janice, has finally finished the exterior which has been painted the same colour as the interior feature walls. The colour naturally appears lighter outside so as you walk into the boutique the same colour is darker , creating an atmosphere of 'retreat' so clients feel comfortable trying on clothes leaving the busy streetscape behind them.

The exterior of the house went from purple & red to a grey-reduced green that imitates the various shades of the surrounding bushland. The same colour has been repeated inside for the laundry & bathroom cupboards. Paving and landscaping is yet to be completed ...... more updates in the future. The outdoor area above the in-ground pool serves as another room for entertaining which I am told happens often.

The main bathroom, ensuite and toilets have been given a total facelift using the same neutral tile and fittings. The colour used on the laundry cupboards continued into these areas for a stunning result. Tiles to the ceiling gives height plus easy maintenance and using the same tile on wall and floors creates a feeling of spaciousness.

In the master bedroom curtains were used to give a feel of elegance and coziness. The beautiful fabric is from Woven Image and the curtains were made by Marrs Curtains. The formal lounge (with the TV Room adjoining) is simply stunning with the new Jasper Lounge from King Furniture. A soft neutral was used for the walls and shutters and with the dark carpet allows the furniture to be a focal point. The coffee table is custom made as will afew other pieces that are still on the drawing board...so stay tuned for updates. Cushions and lamp were found on a buying trip to Balmain. A dark colour was used in the TV Room to create a feeling of cosiness and to reduce glare and maximise the clarity of reception when watching TV. A flat paint finish should also be used to further reduce glare. Shutters by Blind Elegance of Toowoon Bay. Absolutely LOVE this room.

Spent today visiting a client who I have been working with for nearly 12 mths. This was my first look since thay painted and the transformation is amazing as you can see from the images. It's still very much a work in progress so as time goes by you will see even more changes. The interior colour scheme evolved from the kitchen splashback which we had custom made by Axolotl. My niece, Alyce, opened her own beauty salon, Skin Deep, and I was thrilled to help her realise her dream. Alyce is very feminine and loves the shabby chic look. We went with the shabby chic theme but added a bold sophistication to it with the black. In the therapy room a soft calm green was introduced for a soothing feel. Looks great.

The Gardens had not been operational for about 12 months when the current owner, Philip, took on major renovations and restorations. My job is still ongoing as Philip ventures into more enterprises at the Gardens such as the distillery. Its a magic place in the midst of suburbia. These before & after images are of the cafe.

Recently I have been visiting blogsites and found them to be very informative. So I have decided to join in. Its abit like writing a diary which I have never done but have encouraged my daughter Jackie to do from a very young age.

I am a colour designer/interior stylist operating my business, Colour Cool Jul, on the NSW Central Coast.

The initial purpose of my blog is to use it as a diary to record the progress of previous and current jobs from beginning to end....a before and after scenario.

I sure as time goes by my blog will develop more legs and delve into all areas of colour and design and hopefully be interesting and informative to the design conscious.
